For international companies, well-trained staff members with sound and practice-oriented expertise in economics are a crucial factor of success. Our bachelor’s degree programme “Business Administration (English)” is the ideal basis for that. This six-semester programme taught in English is tailored for students who desire to broaden their perspectives and integrate their qualifications into a globalised world. Thanks to its international orientation it opens up new study and work opportunities – across educational and professional borders. Our study programme is characterised by the transmission of scientific principles, methodological competences and profession-oriented qualifications. Our graduates gain a wide spectrum of theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of economics, management, marketing, and scientific research and writing skills which they can transpose directly into practice.
Students are able to choose between the full-time study model and the practice-integrated dual study model. In addition, they choose between the specialisations “Hotel and Tourism Management” or “Marketing Communications and Public Relations”.
The admission to our programmes is regulated by the Berlin Higher Education Law (BerlHG) as well as the HWTK regulations concerning studies and admission. For admission to the bachelor’s degree programme “Business and Administration (English)” applicants have to fulfil the following requirements:
- General university entrance qualification/ subject-related entrance qualification/ advanced technical college maturity or any comparable recognised entrance qualification,
- online submission of application documents including CV, letter of application and approved certificates,
- English language certificate equivalent to the Level B2 (CEFR).
German language skills are not required, but recommended.
Applicants who can provide one of the following two documents only have to fill in the HWTK application form:
- German Abitur or German Fachhochschulreife or
- a certificate issued by the State of Berlin attesting equivalence of your school leaving certificate with the certificates listed above.
All other applicants are required to apply to uni-assist in addition to their HWTK application. Once uni-assist has determined that you generally qualify for university entrance, HWTK decides whether you are accepted into the programme.

Study the way you want!
Being flexible isn’t just important for a successful career; it’s also a guiding principle at the HWTK. When you study at our University, you can organise your studies to suit your needs. Decide what’s best for you: classic full-time studies, integrated theory and practice in the dual work–study model or distance learning that is independent of time and place.
Should your circumstances change and you want to switch to another model for your studies, this is possible at the end of a semester.
Dual work–study model
The dual work–study model incorporates practical experience: You spend half of the week with us at the University and the other half working at a cooperating company. The split-week model: the perfect mix of theory and practice!
At the HWTK we believe in hands-on experience. That’s why our full-time programmes have been set up with two intensive study days per week: This way you have enough time left during the week to gain work experience.
